I've opened an account with that trusty Bank of Federer; all Roger has to do is win the Aussie Open. No sweat for the big man. Well, maybe a bit more sweat than a few years ago but I still think he'll do it.
I too bet on Rog back at the beginning of the tourney along with Dementieva and not sure whether to get out of both bets yet. The women's is ridiculously open but she has been playing well and is in Serena's half who has been playing poo. As for Rog things are opening up nicely...no Murray, No Djokovic, set to play Roddick if he wins this match and Roddick has a terrible record against him!
Here is a question for you...Is Federer a better player now than he was a few years ago?...Arguably he was at his prime a few years ago but competition was not as good. Now there are 4 guys (including Murray) that can challenge for grandslams, old heads such as Roddick, Nalbandian and Davydenko that can always cause a suprise and the new generation such as Del Potro, Tsonga and Simon who could cause upsets. Is winning now not a greater achievement that winning a few years ago?
Seeing odds of over 2/1 for Federer was a no-brainer, especially when he was already in the last eight. Luckily I got him at 3.45 and woke up this morning to see that Djokovic had quit and that Fed is now favourite at 2.4ish on Betfair.
Re. the women, I don't really follow women's tennis. Must be some good money to be won though if you follow it and can predict which seed will fall next etc
It's an interesting question you pose about Federer being better than he was years ago. I do remember the days when he just didn't seem to miss shots, which he does quite a lot today. But each slam he wins from now on will be a much bigger achievement than the ones he won a few years back, due to his age and the competition - let's not forget there's that heavyweight megastar out there who's virtually unbeatable going by the name of ANDY MURRAY
